On Sunday, October 3, 2021 at 9pm, Human Rights Foundation (HRF) will host a screening of THE DISSIDENT, a critically-acclaimed feature film produced by HRF, at Soundscape Park. Directed by Academy Award-winning director Bryan Fogel, this documentary is an exposé of the labyrinth of deceit behind the high-profile murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi. Featuring never-before-seen surveillance footage from inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, and unprecedented access to a wealth of damning information previously unavailable to the public, this powerful film weaves together a story of courage, money, abuse of power, tyranny, love, heartbreak, and technology run amok.

THE DISSIDENT has gone on to become an audience favorite, making international headlines and steering policy at the highest levels. On March 9, 2021, the film won the Irish Council for Civil Liberties Human Rights Film Award 2021, which was presented as part of the Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival. On March 21, 2021 the film won the Writers Guild Award for best documentary screenplay. It was also nominated for a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Award in the Documentary category. The film continues to turn up the heat on Saudi Arabia and is now at the forefront of efforts to compel the Biden administration to adopt a more aggressive foreign policy with regard to Saudi Arabia.
