The Bass Museum: Culture Crawl

May 19, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Video Premeire – Naama Tsabar: Perimeters

Working at the intersection of architecture and music, Tsabar shows viewers how sound moves both through and beyond walls and buildings. For Perimeters, Tsabar will fuse elements from sculpture, music, performance and architecture and transforms the museum itself into a playable instrument. Check out screening of the artists’ performance at 6, 7 and 8PM.

Rara

Presented in collaboration with Edge Zones as part of the 11th Miami Performance Festival International.

Join The Bass for the City of Miami Beach’s Culture Crawl on Thursday May 19 at 7 PM, presenting a “Rara” in collaboration with Edge Zones, as part of the Miami Performance Festival International, celebrating Haitian Heritage Month.

Originating in Haiti and performed in Haitian Creole, “rara” is a type of festival music used in street processions to celebrate the African ancestry of the Caribbean diaspora. Join New Monuments winner Charo Orquet for a hip-shaking percussive musical performance in Collins Park at 7PM.

Performers from the US, Haiti and Miami include Agua Dulce, Jenna Balfe, Maria Theresa Barbist, Stuart King, Kunstwaffen, Arsimmer McCoy, Morir Soñando, Two Coin, Tradisyon Lakou Lakay (TLL) Dance Ensemble and Rafael Vargas-Bernard.

Teen Art Exhibiion 2022

Presented by The Bass’ Teen Board, the annual Teen Art Exhibition features recently produced artwork by South Florida artists. The wide-ranging and innovative body of artwork represents a glimpse into the minds and interests of the local teenage population.

Join The Bass on Thursday May 19 for The Bass Creativity Center’s annual Teen Art Exhibition and see recent artworks by South Florida students aged 13 – 17 on view throughout the museum’s Creativity Center.

Every third Thursday The Bass opens its doors at sunset for City of Miami Beach’s monthly Culture Crawl.

Included in your free admission to the museum, join us for the video premiere performance of Naama Tsabar: Perimeters. After the video, check out the artist’s exhibition at The Bass.
