Oolite Arts and the City of Miami Beach have teamed up to launch Sustainability in Action, a public service announcement (PSA) contest to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions while fostering the growth of the local film industry.

Miami-Dade based filmmakers and creatives are invited to submit their ideas for a 30-60 seconds PSAs about the various ways Miami Beach is working to reduce waste through recycling, composting and the reduction of plastic use, all of which play an important role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. These include the Plastic Free Miami Beach initiative as well as other recycling and composting efforts.

Ten local filmmakers will be selected by a jury of filmmakers and local leaders to receive $2,500 each to produce the winning PSAs, which will premiere at SoundScape Park in November.

Applications are open from July 28 through Aug. 16, 2021.
