Inspired by Abraham Cruzvillegas’ installation, Agua dulce,  and the story Welcome to Florida by Asa Gilland, sculpt your own South Florida native plant or animal species. Agua dulce, a large-scale sculptural installation, encompasses nearly 14,000 square feet of Collins Park outside of The Bass. Through collaborative research with local experts on native flora, Cruzvillegas selected around 23 different species to create the installation of more than 1,000 plants. Using air-dry Model Magic clay, roll, pinch and stretch the clay to create a green sweat bee, monarch butterfly, or some of the flora and fauna found in Agua dulce. Use pipe cleaners to help frame your sculpture or to add features and details.

Enjoy free admission to the museum all day on the last Sunday of every month, and from 2 – 4 PM participate in The Bass’ Family Day. Our free, monthly IDEAS program is created to engage families with children of all ages in activities that encourage conversation, exploration and experimentation through art. Activities include an in-person art making Design Challenge in Collins Park and/or the Creativity Center with art materials provided to participants and an Art Hunt for all ages.
