Films on the Beach 2018: Haute Cuisine

November 15, 2018 @ 8:00 pm

Free

The French Embassy Cultural Services in partnership with the France Florida Foundation for the Arts and the City of Miami Beach Cultural Affairs, present Films on the Beach at Miami Beach Soundscape venue around the theme of the Five Senses curated by Diliana Alexander, founder and director of Filmgate Miami. How can we talk about the five senses in French cinema without evoking French Cuisine? Indeed the third film featured in the festival is Haute Cuisine by Christian Vincent in parnership with French Weeks Miami.

Haute Cuisine (Les saveurs du palais) by Christian Vincent (2012)

Curator’s comment:
“Hortense Laborie, a renowned chef from Perigord, is astonished when the President of the Republic appoints her his personal cook, responsible for creating all his meals at the Elysée Palace. Despite jealous resentment from the other kitchen staff, Hortense quickly establishes herself, thanks to her indomitable spirit. The authenticity of her cooking soon seduces the President, but the corridors of power are littered with traps… Based on the extraordinary true story of President François Mitterand’s private cook..”
