The Magic Flute by W.A. Mozart

At Temple Emanu-El Synagogue

PERFORMANCES: June 27, 7:30 PM / June 30, 1:00 PM / July 25, 7:30 PM / July 28, 1:00 PM

A hero on a quest and a princess finding her way encounter enchanted creatures, an evil queen and ultimately, each other – all with the help of a Magic Flute! A part of MMF’s popular Family Opera series, this production is created specifically for young children and will be performed with English Dialogue and Sung in german with English Supertitles. The Marriage of Figaro by W.A. Mozart

At Miami Beach Senior High / Carl Fisher Auditorium

PERFORMANCES: June 28, 7:30 PM / June 29,  7:30 PM / July 26, 7:30 PM / July 27, 7:30 PM

One of Mozart’s most beloved works gets a classic retelling, bringing to Miami the music and characters that have captured the hearts of opera lovers the world over. The classes battle in a light-hearted comedy sung in Italian by the MMF Opera Institute, which features some of Mozart’s most beautiful melodies ever written. More information available here.

 

 

L’incoronazione di Poppea by Claudio Montverdi

At Miami Beach Woman’s Club

PERFORMANCES: June 29, 1:00 PM / June 30, 6:00 PM

Monteverdi’s final opera brings gods, love, and men in conflict as Emperor Nero Augustus plans to supplant his wife, the Empress Ottavia, with his lover, Poppea. MMF’s Opera Studio Program presents an intimate setting of this classic opera. More information available here.

 

 

Independence Day Celebration

Celebrate the 4th of July with the MMF Orchestra! Capture the uniquely American spirit with our annual July 4th Independence Celebration. Celebrate the holiday with Tchaikovsky’s bombastic 1812 Overture, movie music from John Williams, Stars and Stripes, and other patriotic favorites round out a fun evening of orchestral hits sure to please the whole family. More information available here.

 

 

Symphony Orchestra Concert, MAHLER SYMPHONY NO. 5

Miami Music Festival Symphony Orchestra

Written during a time of major upheaval for the composer, Mahler’s 5th Symphony is his most performed work— most famously, the fourth “Adagietto” movement was conducted by Leonard Bernstein for the funeral of Robert F. Kennedy. The MMF Orchestra brings this music to life in this one night only performance. More information available here.

Symphony Orchestra Concert (GLINKA, OVERTURE TO RUSSLAN AND LUDMILLA STRAVINSKY’S THE RITE OF SPRING)

PERFORMANCE: July 12, 7:30 PM

Surrounded by intrigue and the infamous story of a riotous premiere, Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring remains a popular piece of programmatic music to this day. The MMF Orchestra brings this music to life in this one night only performance. In addition, the winners of the MMF Concerto Competition perform selected Classical and Romantic concertos with orchestral accompaniment. More information available here.

 

 

ARMIDE

At Miami Beach Woman’s Club

Written by the court composer of Louis XIV and premiered for the Grand Dauphin, Armide is the story of a Damascene Princess and the Crusader that she falls in love with. MMF’s Opera Studio Program presents an intimate setting of this classic opera.

 

 

OPERA ARIA NIGHT (MMF OPERA INSTITUTE)

The Miami Music Festival aims to bring South Florida audiences the very best classical music experiences and offers regular opportunities to hear opera’s next generation perform the genre’s greatest hits. Throughout the festival season, music lovers can catch multiple concerts of MMF’s students singing favorite arias at the Betsy Hotel or Miami Beach Woman’s Club , bringing the art form outside of the concert hall and into the community. Zarzuela in the Summer Nights (SCENES FROM THE MMF ZARZUELA PROJECT)

At The Betsy South Beach

PERFORMANCE: July 13, 8:00 PM

One of the great subgenres of the operatic art form is the Zarzuela, Spanish operetta from Spain, Cuba, and the greater Latin American repertoire. Each season, select MMF Opera Institute vocalists are coached in the style of this romantic genre and bring the familiar melodies to the community with each performance. Standards like Lecuona’s Maria, la O, and Lara’s tenor favorite Granada will have audience members humming along in the return of our beloved concert series. Broadway Night (MMF OPERA INSTITUTE)

PERFORMANCE: July 11, 8 PM

The MMF Opera Institute’s vocalists present several concerts of genre favorites each season, from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s beloved standards to contemporary theatre pieces ensnaring the hearts of Broadway fans today. Featuring family-favorite melodies and the best of MMF’s diverse vocal talent, these concerts provide a showcase of Broadway’s best. Tickets and more information available here.

 

 

Miami Summer Chamber Works (MMF ORCHESTRA INSTITUTE)

MMF’s Orchestral Institute draws a remarkable pool of talent from around the globe each season, and out of this ensemble, we offer our Chamber Concert series, comprised of student musicians who select their own programs and coach with our distinguished faculty and artists-in-residence.
