Site R16 Transect 1 is a site-specific sculpture that contains a new series of dimensional clay tiles stacked inside of a gold-framed monolith. Molded and cast from a 3D scan of a South Pacific coral reef ecosystem by marine ecologists, this environment is now visible to land dwellers and responds to Miami’s Art Deco influence by recalling the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape which has been lost to development.
