An event every day that begins at 12:00 am, repeating until March 26, 2023

November 16, 2022 – March 262023

Lady Liberty will feature more than 20 works by Bonnie Lautenberg, spanning her artistic career, including photographs she took in Antarctica, Palm Beach, Cuba and New York, alongside her conceptual artworks. The exhibition is titled Lady Liberty in honor of the role women have played in championing freedom and will also include new works that have never before been exhibited.

Bonnie Lautenberg is an internationally renowned artist, photographer and writer. Her work is in several museum and private collections around the world, including the permanent collections of: The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture, The New York Historical Society, The Broad Museum in Los Angeles, The Newark Museum of Art and The Portland Museum of Art, among others.

Bonnie is the widow of the late Senator Frank Lautenberg, one of Washington’s longest-serving Senators. He served in the U.S. Senate from 1982 to 2001, and then again from 2003 until his death in 2013. She has been described as “having enough Washington insider stories to fill a book.” Bonnie’s new book, which she is currently working on with co-writer Dick Olin about her 25 years of political photography, will be released by Rutgers University Press next year. She is also co-producing a new Broadway musical about the life of Andy Warhol with her current partner Steve Leber. The show has been approved by the Warhol Foundation and is slated to be directed by Sir Trevor Nunn with book by Rupert Holmes.

In 2022, Lautenberg was appointed by The White House to the President’s Advisory Committee on the Arts (PACA). Established in 1958 by President Eisenhower, PACA also sustains and guides the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the National Cultural Center of the United States, see more at www.kennedy-center.org/Support/donor-listings/PACA/
