BABA Collective (Elysa D. Batista and Maria Theresa Barbist)

Immersive Installation

Monday-Sunday- Noon-7pm*

The RCS LAB is an immersive installation visually representing South Florida’s creative and cultural community. This will manifest in the transformation of the 150 oral histories collected in the Rocking Chair Sessions podcast into a 24-hour window activation, as well as digital, sound, and projected works throughout the space. This project is made possible through the support of the City of Miami Beach and The Ellies, Miami’s visual arts awards, presented by Oolite Arts.

Over the past three years BABA Collective has collected oral histories of one hundred and fifty South Florida based artists and creatives. These stories, belonging to local artists, curators, and museum directors in our community, have been shared with the public through the online platforms of Spotify, iTunes, and SoundCloud. There have also been three exhibitions that have showcased the first one hundred recordings in a physical setting with the community through artworks, sound, and performances.
